Mother Courage, Outside the Door (Persian: ننه دلاور، بیرون پشت در) was a groundbreaking theatrical production staged during the 31st Fajr International Theatre Festival in Tehran. Directed and written by Sajad Afsharian, the play uniquely merged Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage and Wolfgang Borchert’s The Man Outside, creating a compelling narrative that explored the human condition amidst war and peace.

The production featured stellar performances by renowned Iranian actors Saber Abar and Hootan Shakiba. Sina Shoaie, an acclaimed sound artist, provided live sound design and mixing throughout the performances, collaborating closely with the Bomrani Band, who performed live on stage as both musicians and actors. This integration of live music and sound design added a dynamic layer to the theatrical experience, immersing the audience in the play’s emotional landscape.
